Sheryl L. (West) Carter, 43, of Vermilion, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2013 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on December 16, 1969 in Morenci, Michigan to the late Mary Jane (Ward) and Ruben Roy West.
She graduated from Wauseon High School and attended BGSU.
Sheryl loved to fish, sew, and was an accomplished woodworker. She could do just about anything. She made cancer care bears and donated many of the proceeds to the Northcoast Cancer Care. She also donated her time and abilities to the good work Northcoast does. Sheryl was the joker in the bunch - she could make everyone smile. She was fiercely loyal to her many good friends, and she never wanted to give up her fight.
Sheryl is survived by her companion, Jenny Keller, of Vermilion; sons, Robert James Carter, of Waterview, Virginia and Andrew and Ryan Keller, both of Vermilion; sisters, Sharon (Tom) Dayhuff, of Norwalk, Barb West, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Patricia West, of Bradenton, Florida; nieces and nephews, Matt, Ryan, Michelle, Dawn, Angie, Ken, Jason, Mike, and Jeremy; and many aunts and uncles.
At Sheryl's request, there will be no viewing and cremation will take place. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering to celebrate Sheryl's life on Friday, November 22, 2013 from 4-7 P.M. at the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus, Ave., Sandusky.
