Doris M. (Guss) White, 83, Sandusky, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in the Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born in Sandusky on April 9, 1930, to the late William and Ida Marie (Luipold) Guss.
She was a 1948 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Doris worked for Ford Motor Co., Sandusky. for 26 years, retiring in 1994. She also worked for Philco, Airco, Ohio Bell as a switchboard operator, and Star Lanes.
She was a member of U.A.W. 1216, American Legion Post 83 Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, Red Hat Ladies Society, and a charter member of the Walleye Mamas. Doris loved to fish, bowl, knit, crochet, play cards with friends, and watch the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. She also loved snowmobiling, traveling in the motor home throughout the country, and wintering in Fort Myers, Florida. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, James White, whom she married April 7, 1978; daughters, Victoria Weber Russell, Susan (David) Weber Zeier, and Barbara Weber Dunlap, all of Sandusky; sons, David (Natalya) Weber, Centreville, VA, Mark (Kelly) Weber, Minnetonka, MN, and Jeffrey (Lisa) Weber, Fort Wayne, IN; step son, Kenneth White, Sandusky; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; sister, Lois (Thomas) Cruse, Sandusky; brothers, Robert (Bettie) Guss, Sandusky, and William (Judy) Guss, Louisa, KY; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a step daughter, Mona.
Friends may call on Friday, November 29, 2013, from 4-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until time of funeral services at 10:30 A.M. in the funeral home. Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
