Franklin E. "Frankie" North

Franklin E. "Frankie" North, 75, Sandusky, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.

He was born on April 30, 1938 in Sandusky, to the late Charles O. North and Rosalie (Norris) North Strauder, and was a graduate of Sandusky High School.

Frank was employed by Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky, Sandusky Plastics, and also was a respiratory therapist for the former Memorial Hospital, Sandusky.

He served 23 years in the U.S.Marines and National Guard.

Frank was a member of Second Baptist Church, Sandusky, member at Large of the Most Worshipful Prince Grand Lodge of Ohio, past master of Progress Lodge #85, Prince Hall, F. & A.M., 32nd degree mason, Bezaleel Consistory #15, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Past Patron, Lakeview Chapter # 65, Order of Eastern Star, Past Most Ancient Johua, Floyd C. Churchwell Court #8, Heroines of Jericho, Past High Priest, Gordon Clemons, Chapter Royal Arch Masons.

He enjoyed bowling, fishing, an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Browns fan, and loved jazz and gospel music.

Frank is survived by his wife of 37 years, Deborah (Jones) North, whom he married, August 2, 1976; children, Donyal Nedrick, Ossing, NY, Franklin North, Jr., Pensicola, FL, Darryl North, Buffalo, NY, Francine North, Columbia, SC, and Marsha (George) Poyner, Clearwater, FL; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Christine (North) Crayton, Sandusky; brother, Roscoe North, Sandusky; several nieces and nephews, special aunt, Anna Barron, special cousin, Steven Brown, special friends, Elroy and Lula Rollison, and Darwitt Garrett; special caregiver, Darlene (Lynn) Amison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Charles Strauder; granddaughter, Francis; grandparents; and a brother, Rev. Charles O. North, Jr.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the dialysis staff at Firelands, Dr. Chaban, Dr. Hill, and Dr. Kaftan, nurses at Firelands and North Ohio Heart Center.

Friends may call on Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in the Second Baptist Church, 315 Decatur St., Sandusky. Masonic services will be held at 10 A.M. at the church. Pastor Reginald Taylor will officiate. Burial will be Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, where the Marines Forever Honor Guard and the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide a military tribute.
