Frederick Carl Ries, 73, of Bellevue passed away, Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at his home.
He was born November 7, 1940 in Sandusky, Ohio the son of Carl Frederick and Betty Minerva (Wobser) Ries.
Fred was employed by the Ford Motor Company as a pipe fitter until his retirement in June 2000. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Oxford Township. A member of the U.A.W. Local 1216, Moose Lodge since 1969, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 490 since 1979, the Monroeville American Legion since 1988, the Huron County Farm Bureau, Bronson-Norwalk Conservation League, and the Sandusky County Restorers of Antique Power (S.C.R.A.P.)
He is survived by his two sons, Anthony Frederick "Tony" Ries of Sulphur Springs, Ohio, Jay Alan Ries of Lewis Center, Ohio; two daughters, Anna Marie Meyer of Bellevue, Ohio, Julie Ann Kuhn of Green Springs, Ohio; 8 Grandchildren: John and Melissa Meyer; Dustin, Derek, Dylan, and Dalton "D.J." Kuhn; Zachary and Taylor Ries; 3 great grandchildren, Steven Meyer, Zain and Paige Kuhn; Two Brothers, Kenneth R. Ries of Bellevue, Thomas D. Ries of Bellevue; and a sister, Shirley A. Dick of Flat Rock, Ohio.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Elma and Carl Ries Sr.
Friends will be received Friday, December 20, 2013 from 6-9 p.m. at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. Additional visitation will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. until a funeral service officiated by Rev. Wendy Schindler-Chasney begins at 11 a.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, 2712 Mason Road, Milan, Ohio 44846. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
