Henry "Hank" John Whaley, Sr., 47, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 23, 2013 in his home.
He was born on February 1, 1966 in Sandusky to the late Frederick and Virginia Marie (Ross) Whaley.
Hank graduated from Sandusky High School in 1985. While in high school, many new him as "Hammerin' Hank."
Hank was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky. He was also a member of the former I.A.B. Club. He loved to shoot pool, listen to the oldies, dance, and take rides with his wife, Jean. He was the jokester, and was a very loving and giving person. He also loved to collect his big toys, naming many of them after his "gangster" persona.
Hank is survived by his wife, Jean (Strother) Whaley, whom he married in April of 1996; children, Henry J., Jr., Fred D., Taylor M., and Tara J. Whaley, all of Sandusky; sister, Sharon (Rory) Thomas, of Sandusky; brothers, Fred, Bill (Charlene), and Scott (Autumn Thomas) Whaley, all of Sandusky; several nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his special cousin, Tommy Bickley.
Friends may call on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. in Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will begin at 11 A.M., with Rev. John Mawhirter officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Hank's name to his family.
