Howard J. Wolter, 82, of Norwalk OH - died Wednesday. Jan 1, 2014 in Toledo University Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
Howard J. Wolter was born December 25, 1931 in Paterson NJ to the late John and Wilhelmina (Daucher) Wolter.
He graduated from Lodi High School, Lodi N.J. and from Rutgers University in New Jersey with a degree in accounting. Howard served in the US army stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia from 1952 to 1954. Howard was accounting manager for companies in Ohio, NC and Wisconsin. He was with AMCA International for several years.
He was Vice President of Finance for Janesville Products in Norwalk OH and became Controller of Jason Incorporated and assisted in setting up the company. Jason Inc. is parent company for several manufacturing units including Janesville Products (now Janesville Acoustics) based in Norwalk OH and Milsco Manufacturing Company in Milwaukee WI. He retired from Jason Inc in 2000. He then set up and was accounting manager for Donn B Corporation, and also Donald Brown's Waterwood Estate near Vermilion OH.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Norwalk OH where he sang in the church choir, was a member of the Endowment Fund committee and served with other volunteer work. Howard was an avid reader and gardener.
He enjoyed attending stage plays and concerts with his wife, Nancy, and supported the arts.
Howard is survived by his wife, Nancy (Wilcox) Wolter of Norwalk, sons Eric (Elizabeth) Wolter of Belvidere IL, John (Ann) Wolter of Woodbury MN, Step-son , Mark Brinker of Charlotte NC, Grandsons Joseph, Nicholas and William Wolter of Woodbury MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn Clayton .
Friends may call on Sunday, January 5, 2014, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio and on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter Lutheran Church, 243 Benedict Avenue, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. David Connor will officiate. Private inurnment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.
