Ralph C. Voight 73, Sandusky passed away early Saturday Morning at the Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief illness.
He was born on November 21, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert C. and Georgetta (Findley) Voight.
Ralph was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1958 until 1962 aboard the USS Ticonderoga serving as a shipfitter 3rd class. Following his time in the Navy he worked for Speedway Auto Stores Inc. and in 1988 purchased the company renaming it Speedway Lawn and Garden and operating the business until his retirement in 2003.
Ralph enjoyed drag racing, NASCAR, golfing, riding his Harley Davidson; his morning coffee with the "Geezers Club" at Bud's Place and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Shirley E. (Schippel) whom he married on April 29, 1978 his children Kim (John) Jensen of Greenwich, Ohio and Shannon (Teresa) Voight of Sandusky, Ohio; two grandchildren Kalia and Celeste Voight; one sister Bobbette (Richard) Yurista of Port Clinton, Ohio; his nephew Michael Yurista of Port Clinton, Ohio and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Including his parents Ralph is preceded in death by two nephews Richard C. and Robert J. Yurista and one great nephew Robert C. Yurista.
At Ralph's request cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. The Groff Funeral Home and Crematory in Sandusky are handling the arrangements for the family.
