Vivian R. Butler, 93, of Sandusky, died Monday afternoon, January 6, 2014 at her residence.
She was born January 24, 1920 in Sandusky and was a 1938 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Vivian was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Sandusky. She retired as a School Bus Driver for the Margaretta Local Schools. Prior to this, she had worked at the Ohio Bell Company and the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors. She loved to read the Bible, crochet, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons: Gerald L "Jerry" Butler of Sandusky, Duane C. (Velma) Butler of Monroeville, Richard A. (Brenda) Butler of Castalia, two daughters: Bonnie Marquardt of Norwalk, Cynthia L. (Saul) Chavez of Sandusky, 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, two sisters: Dorothy (Nelson) Meade of Sandusky and Rhoda (Ernest) Friend of Castalia, one sister-in-law: Ruth Brunner of Sandusky, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Carl E. Butler in 1977, one daughter: Patricia Ann Stanley, one daughter-in-law: Yolanda D. Butler, two grandchildren, one great grandchild, one great great grandchild, and one sister: Betty Robison.
Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky, and on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM in the Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. David L. Hixson will officiate. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery, Groton Township, Ohio.
