Roy Braden Jr.

Roy Braden Jr. 78, of Norwalk, Ohio, died peacefully after a lengthy illness, Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

He was born May 2, 1935 in Norwalk Township, Ohio to the late Roy L. and Wonita M. (Elmer) Braden, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of the Norwalk and Townsend areas.

Roy attended Townsend/Wakeman Schools. He was employed at Crow Lumber in Vermilion, Ohio, Wolohan Lumber, and after retirement, continued to work at Carter Lumber, P & R Hardware, Gardner's Cardinal Market, and at the Norwalk Compost Area. Roy was a very active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic minister and usher. He enjoyed woodworking, riding his bicycle, walking, and going to his grandchildren's sporting events and school activities.

Roy is survived by his children, Pat (Michael) Ritz of Collins, Ohio, Marianne (David) Luna of Norwalk, Ohio, Gerald L. (Sharon) Braden of Norwalk, Ohio, and Gary A. (Tammy) Braden of Norwalk, Ohio, by his grandchildren, Josh Ritz, Jess Ritz, Holly (Mike) Lawrence, Kelly (Brent) Sommers, Jerry Braden Jr., Cory (Whitney) Braden, Brooke Braden, Taylor Braden, Elisa (Andrew) Brown, Nicole (Brad) Withrow, and Jaclyn Luna, and by his great grandchildren, Zoey Lawrence, Isaac Lawrence, Lucas Brown, Oaklynn Withrow, and Barrett Withrow. He is also survived by his brothers, Dale (Irene) Braden of Norwalk, Ohio, Keith (Margaret) Braden, Ronald (Penny) Braden, William (Chris) Braden, Robert (Sherida) Braden, and Darrell (Kathy) Braden, all of Collins, Ohio, and by his sisters, Donna Tharp of Brewster, Ohio, and Linda Evans and Sharon Goodrich, both of Collins, Ohio.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanore in 1986, by his infant sister, Brenda Braden, by his sister, Susie Smith, and by his maternal grandmother, Anna Elmer.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio. Msg. Kenneth Morman, Pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
