Cynthia Ann Hippely

Cynthia Ann Hippely, 66, of Huron, lost a five year battle with cancer on Thursday morning, January 23, 2014, in Stein Hospice Care Center.

Cindy was born on January 25, 1947 in Salem, Ohio, the only child of John and Dorothy (Galchick) Drakulich. She graduated from Salem High School in 1965, and attended Youngstown State University for 3 years.

She married James E. Hippely, Jr. on April 27, 1968, and they resided in Salem until 1978, when they moved to Huron.

Cindy stayed at home while her children were younger, and then worked various jobs until she took a full time position with Famous Footwear in 1990. She became the assistant manager in the Milan store before being promoted to the store manager position in Elyria, and then Sandusky when the store opened. Cindy retired in 2012 after 22 years with the company.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, loved Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, shopping, and collecting hippos.

Cindy is survived by her husband of nearly 46 years, Jim Hippely; parents, John and Dorothy Drakulich, Huron; sons, Jeff (Lee Ann) Hippely, Huron, and Jason (Jaime) Hippely, Sandusky; and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Julia, Jacob, Memphis, and Nikkolas.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Jack and Alice Galchick; and paternal grandparents, Nick and Anna Drakulich.

At Cindy's request cremation will take place. A short memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1 P.M. at the Huron Twp. Conservation Club, 2121 Huron Avery Rd., Huron. A reception will follow until 3 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cindy's name to Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to Seidman Cancer Center, 701 Tyler St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
