Dalton A. Shade, 93, of Norwalk, Ohio, and formerly of Willard, Ohio, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Norwalk Memorial Home.

He was born December 19, 1920 in Richmond Township, Huron County, Ohio to the late Earl C. and Anna M. (Ebinger) Shade.

Dalton attended a one room school through the 8th grade and graduated in 1939 from Willard High School. Dalton was a retired farmer, carpenter, and building contractor, and built many homes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in W.W. II in England where he was an aircraft electrician. Dalton enjoyed making clocks, small shelves, and furniture to sell at craft shows and flea markets with his wife.

He is survived by his brothers, Herbert (Marilyn) Shade of Republic, Ohio, and Robert (Carol) Shade of Willard, Ohio, by his sisters, Mildred Sweet of Norwalk, Ohio, Evelyn Baxter of Willard, Ohio and Viola Snook of Willard, Ohio, by his sisters in law, Viola Scherz of Norwalk, Ohio, and Pauline Shade of Attica, Ohio and by his brother in law, Leland Keegan of Vickery, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dalton was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Keegan) Shade, by his brothers, Willard Shade, Charles Shade and Ernest Shade, and by his sister in law, Hazel Frank.

Friends may call on Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Adrian Doll, Pastor of the Norwalk First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Parkhurst Cemetery, Bellevue, Ohio.
