Donald Duane Chime

On Jan 9, 1932, Donald Duane Chime was born to AnnaMae (Hartley) and Joseph Chime in the small town of California, PA. As a youngster, he shared many a prank with his younger brother and best buddy, Jack. His family moved to Sandusky, OH in 1948, where Don entered SHS for his senior year of high school, cheering on his long-lasting favorite Blue Streak football team.

In 1952 he enlisted in the USAir Force, honorably serving 4 years in Japan with the Secret Service Department.

On May 12, 1956, he married his "blind date" Jane Anna Boss. Throughout the next 57 years as husband and wife, they raised 3 daughters: Dawn Ohlemacher, Debi Chime, and Melanie (Ken) Forren, and enjoyed the addition of 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Don loved airplanes all his life, and got his private pilot license in the late 1970's and joyfully flew his 4 seater Cessna around for the next 9 years.

Known as "Baldy" around Sandusky Ford Plant, Don retired in 1997 after 41 years of service, countless hours, and many sold boxes of candy bars for his grandchildren.

On Sunday, Feb 9, 2014, Don met his parents and siblings: Lowell, Cookie, Jack, Pat, Paul, and a young brother who died before Don's birth, at heaven's gates along with his faithful dog, Sugar. One day they will all gather again when sister, Dolly, joins them for the complete Chime family heavenly reunion.

Heaven rejoiced with his entrance as we on earth said our final good-byes until we meet again.
