Dr. Virgil C. Lambert, age 79, of Sandusky, died Saturday evening, February 15, 2014 at Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born June 12, 1934 in Wellston, Ohio to the late Arthur D. and Elizabeth (Copus) Lambert.
He was a graduate of Wellston High School and Rio Grande College. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, obtained a Masters in Education at Bowling Green State University and received a Doctorate in Education at Wittenberg College. He was a student teacher in Dayton and Fairborn, and later taught at Margaretta High School. He was an administrator and curriculum coordinator at Bellevue Schools and the Buckeye Valley School System. He was an active Elder and choir member at the First Presbyterian Church, Sandusky over 50 years and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, quilting and traveling.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelley (Steve) Lambert Romell; and son, Mark (Beth) Lambert; grandchildren, Chantz (Krista), Aleisha, Kris, Kaylee and Damon; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Florence.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Wilson) Lambert in 2005; three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Pfeil Funeral Home 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky and also Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church, 265 Jackson Street, Sandusky, with the Rev. Dr. Robert R. Bottoms officiating. Burial will follow at Castalia Cemetery.
