Shirley Marie (Boden) Young, 86, residing in Green Springs, Ohio passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Elmwood at the Springs after a lengthy illness.
Shirley was born on May 15, 1927 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late John and Martha (Kindt) Boden.
Shirley was employed as a kitchen assistant at Markley's restaurant for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Sandusky Eagles. In her spare time, she enjoyed going to church at Victory Church in Fremont, the Eagles club, listening to music, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her children, Cathy (John) Trent of Fremont, Randy (Ronette) Skaggs of Sandusky, John (Lily) Cordle of New London, Valerie Carpenter of Luttrell, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl Sabo of Castalia; special friend, Betty Bradley and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by her former husband, Frank Young; brother, Frank Boden; and sisters, May Chestnut, Edith Rosin, Bea Hartley and Florence Thayer.
Friends may call on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky with Rev. Scott Robles, from Victory Church presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
