Florence Criscione, 92, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014.
She was born Easter Sunday, March 27, 1921, at home, in Nevada, Ohio, to the late Chester J. and Toinette I. (Rouff) Jacobs and lived in this area most of her life.
Florence was a 1938 graduate of Monroeville High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 and was stationed at Olgethorp, Georgia, and Harlengen, Texas. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. Florence enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, playing cards in her card club, playing games, gardening, was an avid reader, enjoyed word find puzzles, taking family snap shots, traveling and vacationing with her family, playing softball and volleyball in area women's leagues, playing Wii Bowling and cards at the Huron County Senior Center. Florence was also a member of Ken Bur Bel Post #41 American Legion Auxiliary for over 27 years, and was a former member of Eagles Aerie #711 Auxiliary. She was the former owner of Flo's Pizza House in Norwalk, Ohio, and was a former employee of Norwalk Upholstery, Becker's Potato Chip Company, and retired in 1984 from Fanny Farmer Candy Company.
Florence is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Robert) Walton of Monroeville, Ohio, Barbara (Bob) Good of Monroeville, Ohio, Marie (Tim) Crooks of Clyde, Ohio, and Susan (Darryl) Finney of Bellevue, Ohio, and by her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Carolyn) Walton, Tracey (Rich) Lang, Kelley (Dave) Bohman, Charity (Jeffrey) Webber, Tony (Robin) Good, Tonya (Michael) Heuring, Brandi (Kevin) Roeder, Chad Crooks, Todd Crooks, Angie (Scott) Hoefler, Matthew (Lauren Lee) Finney, and Levi Crooks, 33 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one great great grandchild soon to be born, by her sister in law, Dolly Jacobs of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Santo, in 1985, by her brothers, Chester George Jacobs and Ernest Glen Jacobs, and by her sisters, Mary Jacobs, and Audrey Jean Jacobs, and by her sister in law, Marguerite Jacobs.
Friends may call on Monday, March 3, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesay, March 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, Ohio.
