Arthur W. Anderson, 90, of Sandusky, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born on July 20, 1923 in Port Clinton to the late Robert Anderson, Sr. and Norah (Constable) Anderson.
He was a 1941 graduate of Port Clinton High School.
Arthur was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in WWII as a tank driver from 1943-1945. Once home, he worked for Farrell-Cheek Steel, retiring with the company in 1983.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Sandusky. He served as Past President of the congregation and on the church council. He was also a member of Zion 5 dartball team. He loved to garden and work in his yard, fish, and travel with his wife with their camper.
Arthur is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Annabel M. (Brady) Anderson; son, Gerald A. Anderson, of Crestline, Ohio; sister, Kathryn Ramlow, of Toledo; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Anderson, Jr.
Friends may call on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, where the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide military honors. All in attendance are welcome to join the family for a luncheon at the church following the committal services.
