Jean Marie (Lawhon) Nolder

Jean Marie (Lawhon) Nolder, 68, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Saturday afternoon at the Stein Hospice Care Center following a brief bout with cancer, her loving family by her bedside.

She was born on August 29, 1945 to the late Marie (Bartlett) Lawhon.

Jean was a member of Holy Angel's Catholic Church. She loved music, and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, traveling, taking long drives along the lake and country side, and spending time with her family, especially her grand-babies.

Jean was a homemaker and most recently co-owner of Jerra and Jean's Sewing Machines in Sandusky. She was also actively involved in Girl Scouts as a leader in the mid 1970's and then as a co-leader for her grandchildren most recently.

Jean is survived by her six children Denise (Dan) McClure of Colorado Springs, CO, Janine (Cliff) Taylor of Galloway, OH, Teresa Ortolani, and Lisa Traylor both of Sandusky, Joey Nolder of Louisville, KY and Jerralina (Bill) Shafrath of Sandusky, 18 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, one sister Patty (Mario) Barone of Sandusky, one nephew and several other relatives.

Including her mother, Jean was preceded in death by her husband Jerold J. Nolder in 2005.

Friends may call on Thursday March 13, 2014 from 9 AM until time of Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Angel's Catholic Church 1605 W. Jefferson St. Sandusky, Ohio 44870. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. The Groff Funeral Home and Crematory in Sandusky are handling the arrangements.
