May A. Kehres, age 88, of Castalia, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a brief illness.

She was born June 17, 1925, in Castalia, and attended Margaretta High School .

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church , Castalia, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Erie County Senior Center . May was employed by the Apex Company during WWII; and later by Margaretta Schools, where she worked in the cafeterias for 28 years, retiring in 1988. She was a devoted housewife and mother; and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Taking great care of her yard, and cooking and baking were also great sources of joy for her.

She is survived by her daughter Delores (Leland) Meggitt, Vickery; son Daniel (Kathleen) Kehres, Castalia; grandchildren Jason (Heather) Kehres and Jamie (Norman) Milavec; four great grandchildren RaeAnne Kehres, and Ana, Linnea, and Emma Milavec; sisters Ruth Speer of Sandusky, Ohio and Joyce Cramer of Winter Haven, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

May was preceded in death by her husband, Othmar Kehres in 1988; parents Frank and Mina (Hall) Wobser; brothers Andrew, Roy, Albert, Ernie and Elmer Wobser; sisters Mabel Ruthsatz, Hazel Welser, Bertha Koch, Betty Ries, and Anna Marie in infancy.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St. , Castalia, and from 9:30 AM Thursday, March 20, 2014, until time of services at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church , 203 S. Washington St. , Castalia. Rev. Kathleen Suggitt will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery .
