Morgan E. Jones, 83, formerly of Huron, Ohio, and Norwalk, Ohio, passed away early Monday morning, March 31, 2014 in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky, Ohio.
He was born February 17, 1931 in Willoughby, Ohio to the late Joseph O. and Ruth M. (Evans) Jones.
Morgan was raised in Bratenahl, Ohio and came to Norwalk, Ohio in 1955. He was a graduate of Shaw High School where he was a member of the marching band that participated in the 1948 World Series Parade for the Cleveland Indians. Morgan was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Morgan was a former Superintendent of the Norwalk Foundry, was a former salesman for Norwalk Boxboard Packaging, and was a former Sales Manager for Norwalk Parts (Parts Distributors) Company. He had also been a member of the Security Department at Cedar Point for 14 years. Morgan enjoyed golf, and also enjoyed watching his grandson's school activities. He was a former member and past president of the Norwalk Jaycee's, was a former Norwalk City Councilman for 14 years, and was a former member of the Huron and Norwalk Lions Clubs.
Morgan is survived by his children, Mark R. (Amy) Jones of Huron, Ohio, and Ann S. Jones of Alburtis, Pennsylvania, by his grandson, Philip Owen Jones of Huron, Ohio, and by his sister, Gwen Lloyd of Bay Village, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean A. (Shurmer) Jones in 2009.
Friends may call on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio where funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Brian Oglesbee, Pastor of the Norwalk First United Methodist Church will officiate.
