Clarence J. "Kelly" Rahrig, age 89, of Norwalk, died Wednesday evening, April 9, 2014 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
He was born March 4, 1925 in Berea, OH to the late Edward and Mary (Sabiers) Rahrig. He served in the US Navy during WWII from 1943 until 1945. He was a supervisor for many years at Eastern States Agway, and retired from CertainTeed in 1998. He was a life member of the Norwalk VFW Post 2743, American Legion Post 40, and the Eagles Aerie 711. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and bowling, where he was inducted to the Norwalk Bowling Hall of Fame in 1994, and was league secretary for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Bonnigson) Rahrig of Norwalk, to whom he married August 4, 1973; children, Sharon Rahrig of Sandusky, Steve (Janet) Rahrig of Houston, TX; step-children, Wayne Burtscher of Norwalk, David Burtscher of Norwalk, Tammy Burtscher of Cleveland, Sandra (Denna) Burtscher of Huron and Larry Burtscher of Norwalk; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gene, Melvin, Oleva and Ruth.
Friends may call on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:30 A.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk with Pastor Bill Hlavin officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
