Margaret Estella (Taylor) Whetsel, age 89, of Castalia, died Sunday morning, April 13, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, following a lengthy illness.
She was born May 26, 1924, in Mount Vernon, OH, and was a long time cook at Bogart Elementary School.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Vacationland Travelers, Melody Makers, and Mothers Club. She liked doing crafts and won many trophies shooting fast draw. She also enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends.
Margaret is survived by one daughter Maryalice Fredrick of Castalia; daughter-in-law Beverly Whetsel; 6 grandchildren Paulette Yates, Jeffrey (Chrissy) Fredrick, Christina Whetsel, Stephanie Whetsel, Michael Ritenour, and Amy Ritenour; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert 'Hank" Whetsel in 2008; daughter Patricia Bickley; son David Whetsel; grandson Wade Whetsel; son-in-law Larry Fredrick; 3 brothers; and 7 sisters.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday, April 17, in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, April 18, in the First Christian Church, 3410 Hayes Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Don Spurlock will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
