Allan J. "Big Al" Walk, 58, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday afternoon, April 20, 2014 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on September 5, 1955 in Sandusky, and graduated from Perkins High School in 1974.
He worked as a respiratory therapist for the former Good Samaritan Hospital, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a medic for three years until his honorable discharge. He was a member of St. Stephen A.M. E. Church, Sandusky.
Allan is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Elnora W. Walk, which whom he resided; brother, Preston "Lorenzo" (Darlene "Ducky") Walk, of Sandusky; nieces, Shantrel Walk, LaRhonda McGowan, both of Sandusky, and Nina McGowan, Sandy Springs, GA; nephew, Sergeant 1st Class Julian and (Staff Sergeant LaTisha) Walk, of Alabama; great nieces, J'Nadia, Jayda, Brittany, and Bridget; uncle, Leon Christian; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Preston Walk; brothers, Gerald McGowan and Kim D. Walk; maternal grandmother, Ethel Christian; and paternal grandmother, Odessa Walk.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 29, 2014from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 Noon at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Perkins Cemetery, where the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard will provide military honors.
