Levernie "Willie" Crosby, Jr., 62, of Sandusky, was called from labor to his reward on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.
Vern was born the first of four children to the late Levernie Crosby, Sr. and Goldie Crosby on November 25, 1951 in Collins, Mississippi.
Vern was the CEO and President of Crosby Construction, LLC in New Orleans, Louisiana, and worked as a self-made entrepreneur for the majority of his career (e.g., Akil Inc, Grace Industries, and Allstate Inc.).
At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Porter's Memorial CME in Sandusky. Although he was no great singer, he had a passion for quartet singing, and always smiled when he listened to the Canton Spirituals and Lee Williams. He will always be remembered as "Mr. Contract," and his passion for government contracting reflected his abilities to help those that required his expertise. Like his dad, he recently began sharing seeds with those within the community to share the harvest with those in need. He will be notably remembered for his big heart, helping everyone he associated with, and his open spirit - giving of himself to make a difference for others.
Vern is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Aaron) Crosby; son, Vernie Crosby, of Las Vegas, NV; mother, Goldie Crosby, of Nashville, TN; sister, Lisa (Steven) Caffey, of Nashville, TN; brothers, Larry (Tigi) Crosby, of Winchester, VA and Anthony E. (Dee) Crosby, of Manassas, VA; a special great-aunt, Lille Alexander, of Detroit, MI; several aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Friends may call from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at Noon on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky. Pastor Curtis L. Johnson, Jr. will officiate. Entombment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
