Marcelles "Morris" D. Valentine

Marcelles "Morris" D. Valentine, 90, of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday morning, May 13, 2014 in Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born on January 28, 1924 in Harrisville, W. Va. to the late James Valentine, Sr. and the late Carrie (Layfield) Valentine.

Morris worked for Huron Lime Co. for over 20 years. He loved fishing, country and gospel music, and was a backyard mechanic who loved to work on his cars.

Morris is survived by his sons, David and Donald, Sr. Valentine; grandson, Donald (Aubrey) Valentine, Jr.; great-grandson, Ethan; brothers, Rev. William (Vivian) and Jack (Mary Lou) Valentine; sisters- and brother-in-law, Margaret Boyd, Betty Taylor, and Bob (Betty) Taylor; nieces and nephews; and cat, Journey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma (Taylor) Valentine, in 1998; brothers, James, Jr., Marshall, and Ray Valentine; sisters, Hazel Valentine and Helen Cox; and dog, Dudley.

The family would like to give special thanks to Marsha Shepherd and the staffs at the Alternative Care Center and the Erie County Senior Center for their wonderful care of Morris.

Friends may call on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 Noon at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Chaplain David Clarke from Stein Hospice will officiate. Private burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. All in attendance are welcome to join the family for a potluck luncheon in the Toft Event Room immediately following the funeral.
