John E. Cochran, Sr., 84, of Sandusky, died Friday, May 16, 2014, in the Elmwood at the Springs, Green Springs, OH.
He was born on June 4, 1929 in Cleveland, OH, and was a career U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1946 to 1977.
He was employed as an executive chef at Cedar Point until 1981 and then was Food Administrator for the Ohio Veterans Home until 1992.
He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2529, American Legion Post 83, Amvets Post 17, and the D.A.V. John was a 32nd Degree Mason, and loved fishing, reading, and was a great carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Norma (Guillory) Pitre Cochran; daughter, Deborah Brennan, Sandusky; son, John E. (Susan) Cochran, Jr., Dover City, FL; step-daughter, Shawn-Dell (Ryan) Pazzaglia, College Station, TX; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma J. Hitt and Mary L. Behenke, both of Florida, and Linda (Joe) Wagner, Parma, OH; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Cochran in 2008; parents, Cecil and Sylvia (Hunter) Cochran; and a step-son, Terry James Pitre.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, from 4 P.M. until time of funeral services at 6 P.M. in the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Paul Birmingham will officiate. Burial will take place in Meadow Green Memorial Park, where the American Legion Post 83 Color Guard will provide the military honors.
