Opal (Haywood) Perry, age 87, of Norwalk, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born January 6, 1927 in Prestonsburg, KY to the late Bob and Lolie (Hamilton) Haywood.
She worked many years at the former VanDresser until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking. She was a member of the Deliverance Tabernacle Church in New London and the Freewill Baptist Church in Norwalk.
She is survived by her children, Wanda (Pete) Kessler of SC, Linda Sue (Bill) Daniels of NC, Donna (Carl) Hamilton of AZ, Gary (Judy) Perry of Norwalk, Larry Perry of IN and Jerry (Martha) Perry of Norwalk; 28 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Ethel, Edna, Patsy, Thelma and Bill.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Samuel B. Perry in 2006; sons, David Perry and Roy Perry; daughters, Mary Beth Ramey and Ruth Myers.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 - 8 P.M. at the Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main Street, Norwalk. A Funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with the Rev. Bill Smith to officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
