Virginia M. (Grathwol) McKillips, 79, residing in Castalia, passed away early Monday morning, June 2, 2014 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Virginia was born on March 30, 1935 in Sandusky, OH to the late Alton and Mary (Noftz) Grathwol.
Virginia was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, president of the Vacationland Grandmothers Club, Sandusky Eagles and the American Legion Post 83. In her spare time, she enjoyed NASCAR,playing cards, visiting Amish country, cooking for everyone and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandkids.
Virginia is survived by her children; Donald (Linda) McKillips Jr., Debra Chapman both of Castalia, Allan (Jill) McKillips, Keith (Sue) McKillips, Julie (Charlie Buchholz) all of Sandusky, Cyndi (Dave Moltz) Boggs of Castalia, Ginger (Thomas) Moses of Clyde, Bill (Suzanne) McKillips, Vicki (Mike) Chamberlin both of Sandusky and Rob (Jen) McKillips of Gladwin, MI; thirty grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Bennett of Sandusky and Judi (Albert) Good of Collins, OH; brother Richard (Sherri) Grathwol of Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald McKillips Sr., in 1983; brother, Donald Grathwol, and friend George Miller.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A family prayer service will begin in the funeral home at 7:30 pm with Minister Darrell McKillips and Pastor Ken Hiser officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 am in Kelleys Island Cemetery, Kelleys Island, OH.
