Norma C. Connors, a long-time resident of Bellevue, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, May 31, 2014 at the Bellevue Care Center, of natural causes. She was 93 years young, with friends and acquaintances too numerous to count.
She was born in Fremont, Ohio on September 2, 1920, to the late Raymond E. and Rita (Kinsey) Mitcler.
She was the first of their four children, and was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Norma married John D. Connors on September 10, 1949 in Indiana. They spent the rest of their lives together in Bellevue, raised three children and were completely devoted to each other.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 2003; a son, Timothy Connors in 2008; a sister Donna (and Thomas) Wolfe and her only brother, Richard Mitcler.
After graduation, Norma worked in the field of Accounting for many years before becoming a devoted stay-at-home mom to her three children. She was a member of Seybert United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served as Financial Secretary for 28 years. She also volunteered as a precinct official at the local Board of Elections.
Norma was an avid reader, particularly enjoying mystery writers. She read the newspaper from cover to cover every day, and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She shared a love of music with her children, enjoyed collecting lighthouses and was fond of Thomas Kinkade art. Anyone who knew Norma, appreciated her quick wit and sense of humor. Adored by her grandchildren, they brought her great joy and she loved them all unconditionally.
Survivors include her son, Dennis E. Connors, of Bellevue; daughter, Melissa (David) Damschroder of Fremont; eight grandchildren, two step-grandsons, four great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; and sister Nancy (Walter) Wickerham of Clyde.
Special thanks and appreciation to the staff at Bellevue Care Center, who loved and cared for Norma for nearly eight years, and will miss her.
Friends will be received Monday, June 9th, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A funeral service will be held at Foos and Foos on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery.
