Ernest Owens, 79, of Fremont passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at his home.
He was born on August 30, 1934 in Haysi, Virginia the son of Arvil and Alta (Viers) Owens.
Ernest was a shipping clerk for Eveready. He was a member of the Little Bethel Old Regular Baptist Church. He enjoyed camping, traveling and making camper awning lights & windmills.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Floria (Raines) Owens, whom he married on December 27, 1952 in Clintwood, VA. One son, Danny Perkins of Fremont; three daughters, Lucy (Rick) Zieber of Findlay, Marilyn (Ken) Hughes of Fremont, and Gail Myers of West Mansfield; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sisters Lorene Elswick of Fremont, Philadene Deel of Haysi, VA, and Wanda "Janice" Lauer of Fremont.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Loretta, daughter in law Linda, sister Vivian "Imogene" Clymer and two nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Hwy, Clyde. And again at the Little Bethel Old Regular Baptist Church, SR 228, Green Springs, Ohio 44836 from 7:30 pm Thursday until Friday at 1pm when the funeral service begins. Burial will follow at Butternut Ridge Cemetery.
