Marvin J. Sinwald, 91, of Sandusky, passed away late Saturday evening, June 7, 2014 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Marvin was born on May 22, 1923 in Sandusky, OH to the late Albert F. and Anna M. (Soldowski) Sinwald.
Marvin graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1942. He retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad in 1984 after 38 years of service. Marvin was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky, AmVets, American Legion, Sandusky Eagles, I.A.V., and the Italian American Veterans in Lorain. In his spare time he enjoyed dancing, bowling and gardening.
Marvin is survived by his brother, Edwin Sinwald of Huron; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Marvin is preceded in death by two brothers, Allen and Chester Sr. (Rosy) Sinwald and two sisters, Esther Brownworth and Viola Starkloff.
Friends may call on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at 9:30 am on Friday, June 13, 2014 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:0 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky with Father Joseph Steinbauer presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
