Marita Jane Burton, 98, of Sandusky, died Sunday morning, June 8, 2014 in the Parkvue Health Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born January 3, 1916 in Fostoria and was a 1934 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Jane was employed as a secretary at the former Good Samaritan Hospital, until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where she had been a member of the Rebecca Circle and the Altar committee. She was also a member of the Harlequin's, Women's Civic Group, Firelands Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, and the Thunderbird Ladies Golf league.
She is survived by one daughter: Connie (Robert) Souter of Sandusky, two granddaughters: Lisa VanVlerah of Huron and Beth (John) Hussey of Cincinnati, three great grandsons: Bryce VanVlerah and Jack & Scott Hussey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall J. Burton in 1989, and her parents: Horace & Tura (Hunter) Hutter.
Friends may call from 10:30 AM until time of funeral service at 12:00 Noon on Monday, June 16, 2014 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. The Rev. Timothy Nilsen will officiate. Private graveside services for the family will follow at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
