Howard A. Sawyer, 84, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2014 in his home, to join his beloved wife, Jacqueline.
He was born on January 4, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York.
Howard graduated with a Masters Degree in Accounting from Bishop's University in Quebec. He was a self-employed entrepreneur.
He was a very talented musician, playing the trumpet and saxophone. He traveled to every state of the union and every province of Canada with his wife, and loved western square dancing.
He is survived by his children, Beverley Boguszewski, of Norwalk, Dr. Kathryn (Terry) Durham, of Sandusky, James (Norma) Sawyer, of Carson City, NV, Cynthia (Allan) McLeod, of Norwalk, Sally (Duane) Lucius, of Norwalk, Ronald (Ruth) Sawyer, of Findlay, and Pamela (Kevin) Odle, of Ashville, OH; 32 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great- grandson; sister-in-law, Nancy White, of Norwalk; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline L. Sawyer, on July 25, 2013; parents, Arthur and Rose (Cable) Sawyer; sisters, Gloria (Kitchener) Hodgins and Marion Sawyer; and brother, Gerald Sawyer.
A memorial service to celebrate Howard and Jacqueline's life together will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. in First Baptist Church, 67 E. Main St., Norwalk. Rev. Paul Lamb will officiate. Memorial contributions in Howard's memory may be made to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
