Thomas P. "Suds" Gravenhorst, 65, of Monroeville, Ohio died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 29, 1945 in Norwalk, Ohio to Bernard & Ruby (Smith) Gravenhorst and was a life long area resident. He served in the U.S. Army as Postal Master in Wildflichen Fulda, Germany. He was a life long farmer. Tom was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroeville, American Legion Post 547, Monroeville and the Huron County Farm Bureau. Suds was an avid card player, and an enthusiastic sports fan, who loved spending time with his family and dogs.
He is survived by his wife: Betty (Raftery) Gravenhorst of Monroeville, one sister: Rita Leber of Toledo, three brothers: Joe (Sue) Gravenhorst, Jim (Marilyn) Gravenhorst and John Gravenhorst, all of Monroeville, numerous nieces, nephews and his loyal dog: Beano.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard (1987) and Ruby (2003) Gravenhorst, one niece, several nephews, a great nephew, and sister-in-law: Janet Gravenhorst (2010).
Friends may call Sunday, February 27, 2011 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, February 28, 2011 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. The Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.
