John C. Header, Sr., 94, of Monroeville passed away Thursday afternoon July 3, 2014 in the Fisher Titus Medical Center, Norwalk following a brief illness.

He was born January 30, 1920 in Osceola Mills, PA and was a 1938 graduate of Milan High School.

John served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a left gunner and radio operator on a B24 airplane. He survived 35 missions between September of 1944 and April of 1945. He was employed as a pipefitter at the Ford Motor Company, Sandusky Plant for 27 years retiring in 1983. Prior to this he had worked at the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors and also construction in the Toledo area. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, The American Legion and the UAW Local #1216.

He is survived by one daughter, Rosalie McPherson of Clyde; one son, John C. (Mary Jane) Header, Jr. of Arliington, TX; six grandchildren, Darren (Meanavy) Header, Darryl (Angela) Header, David Header, Lisa (Greg) Hill, Scott (Jen) Wood and Danny McPherson; two great grandchildren, Alexis and Kylee; one son-in-law Bill Wood of Milan, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Faye) Header in 1995, one daughter; Lucinda "Cindy" Wood in 2005; one son-in-law , Dan McPherson in 1988; his parents, Edward and Veronica (Crajcman) Glogowski; three sisters, Sophie Kuhn, Phyllis Krechman and Laurel House; one brother, Leo Header.

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 66 Chapel Street, Monroeville. Father Bill Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroeville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph School (Youth Leadership Program), 79 Chapel Street, Monroeville.
