Earl Robert King, 68, of Sandusky, passed away on Monday afternoon, July 7, 2014 in Stein Hospice Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on August 16, 1945 in Portland, Maine to the late Ernest and Hilda (Bridges) King.
He attended Platt High School in Meriden, Conn., was employed as a Health and Safety Inspector for GM for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2006.
Earl was a member of Sandusky Church of God, where he was a greeter, an usher, a council member, and an avid volunteer. He was a volunteer with Sandusky County Civil Defense, a firefighter and an EMT with Lakeside Volunteer Fire Dept., a First Aid and CPR instructor for the Red Cross, and was avid with Heartbeat of Sandusky, the Salvation Army, and food ministries. He was also a member of the Abishi Warriors, carrying his love of God and fellowship with him. A man of integrity, and a true servant, Earl always put others before himself. His efforts touched many lives, and he will be truly missed. When asked how he was doing, Earl would always reply that he was, "Wonderfully blessed and highly favored."
Earl is survived by his wife of 15 years, Janice King; children, Robert King, Robin (Kal) Kemp, Kimberly Schee, and Amanda Lynn; grandchildren, Brenda, Bradlee, Jeryn, Khilyn, Andrew, Brandyn, Brianna, and David; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Elijah, Bradlee, Jr., and Wyatt; sisters, Betty Ann (Ron) Regnier and Mary (Carl) Allen; and a host of other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Patricia King; sister, Kathleen Knight; and a brother in infancy.
Friends may call on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 5-8 P.M., and again on Friday from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. at Sandusky Church of God, 1018 W. Bogart Rd., Sandusky. The Revs. Harvey and Samuel Studer will officiate. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
