Pauline "Polly" Smith, age 85, of Castalia, died Friday morning, February 25, 2011, at Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus.
She was born May 16, 1925 in Berkley, OH and attended Margaretta High School. She was a member of Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, Sandusky and owned and operated Polly's Beauty Bar. In her free time she enjoyed going bowling.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia (Walter)Heishman, N. Lawrence, OH; son Robert (Kathy) Smith, Sandusky; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister in-law Julia Wiswell, Clyde; and several nieces and nephews.
Pauline was preceded in death her husband Chester Smith; parents Samuel and Flossie (Flugar) Wiswell; a daughter in infancy; grandson Walter R. Heishman; step-father Cecil Shatzer; two brothers George and Bill Wiswell; and four sisters Ilene Link, Gertrude Sears, Lucille LaGrou, and Jean Gish.
Friends may call from 5-9 PM Sunday, Feb. 27th, at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia. The body will lie in state from 10:00 AM Monday, Feb. 28th, until time of services at 11:00 AM at Columbus Avenue United Methodist Church, 2401 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Ted Austin will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
