Mary I. (Sherwood) Deitenbeck, 88, of Sandusky, passed away on her birthday, July 7, 2014 in Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born in New York State on July 7, 1926 to the late William and Lowella (Johnson) Sherwood.
Mary worked for Sandusky Plastics (formerly Foster Grant) for 27 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. In her younger years, she loved making ceramics and crocheting. She loved all animals, and lived for her family.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Niles) Fuller, of Sandusky; sons, Dennis Deitenbeck, of Baybridge, and Patrick Joseph (Frieda) Deitenbeck, of Gretna, LA; grandchildren, Amber, Peter, and Jason; three great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Scott, of San Antonio, TX; and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis D. Deitenbeck, in 2007; sister, Bertha Reed; and daughter-in-law, Marsha Deitenbeck.
Friends may call from 5-7 P.M. on Thursday, July 10 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, July 11, and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Fr. Matt Frisbee will preside. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
