Sheila A. Barman, 80, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side, Wednesday evening, July 9, 2014.
She was born April 25, 1934 in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Robert M. and Myrtle E. (Souslin) Sheppard, and was a lifelong Norwalk resident.
Sheila was a 1952 graduate of Norwalk High School. She was a parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church where she sang in the choir for several years, was a member of the Women of St. Paul, and was actively involved with the St. Paul Annual Festival. She was a member of the Fisher-Titus Auxiliary. Sheila was a former employee of the Shelby Depot, Shelby, Ohio, was also the former bookkeeper of Barman Construction Company, Norwalk, Ohio, and the two farms she and Norb owned, and was a fulltime homemaker. Sheila enjoyed knitting baby blankets for all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially enjoyed setting Frank Linder and Norb at Euchre, playing her keyboard, crosswords, soap operas, was a Cleveland Indians fan, and was a fierce competitor of Mahjong.
Sheila was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in the arts and sporting events. Sheila was the glue that held her family together with the lunches they shared every Sunday for whomever could make it.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Norbert "Norb" Barman, whom she married September 11, 1954, by her children, Edwin and Jeanie Barman of Monroeville, Ohio, Dale and Judie Barman of Milan, Ohio, David and Sharon Barman of Norwalk, Ohio, Anthony and Antoinette Barman of Monroeville, Ohio, Bonita and Richard Barna of Norwalk, Ohio, Christopher and Terri Barman of Norwalk, Ohio, Kathleen and Paul Sigsworth of Milan, Ohio, and Dina and Jay Lukasko of Norwalk, Ohio, 22 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, by two great grandchildren soon to be born, and by her sister-in-law, Dolores Kimball of Monroeville, Ohio.
Sheila was preceded in death by her son, Darryl Barman in 1955, by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Raymond Schenk, and Roberta and Clifford Fink. Friends may call on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Msgr. Kenneth Mormon will officiate. Burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Peru where she will be laid to rest with her son.
