Michael C. Schwiefert, 53, Sandusky, died Friday, February 25, 2011 in Firelands Reg. Med. Center, unexpectedly.
He was born on September 6, 1957 in Sandusky, and was a graduate of EHOVE He was employed as a graphic arts specialist at North Point Educational Service Center since 1985. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sandusky. He was a former scout master for Troop 8 for many years. He loved the outdoors, hiking, camping, boating, kayaking, restoring old cars, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Mike is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty (Toft) Schwiefert, whom he married on September 27, 1975; his children, Jason (Andrea) Schwiefert, Huron, Tony (Megan) Schwiefert, North Ridgeville, and Beth (Matt) Bauer, Sandusky; grandchildren, Gabe, Alison, Grant, Erin, and Adelle; mother, Olivia (Kochensparger) Schwiefert, Sandusky; sister, Christine Jordan, Sandusky; brothers, Jim (Teresa) Schwiefert, Sandusky, Rob (Teri) Schwiefert, Norwalk, and Brian (Lyn) Schwiefert, Vickery; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Schwiefert, in 2004; paternal and maternal grandparents; and uncles.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or Erie MetroParks, 3109 Hull Rd, Huron, OH, 44839.
