Norma Jean (Lorenz) Poths, 82, residing in Sandusky, gracefully and quietly went with the Lord on Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2014 at Providence Care Center, where she courageously and bravely endured Alzheimer's disease for the past 14 years.
She was born on December 18, 1931 in Sandusky, OH to the late Charles F. and Minnie (Rinkel) Lorenz.
Norma was a 1950 graduate of Sandusky High School. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed crosswords, crocheting, golfing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Norma is survived by her husband, of 62 years, Milton E. Poths, whom she married on March 1, 1952. She is also survived by her sons, Jeffrey M. of Sandusky and Gary A. (Shawn) Poths of Yorktown, VA; daughter, Susan K. (William) Appell of Columbus, OH; 9 grandchildren, Jeff (Juli), Sarah, Shelly, Natalie (Andrew), Wesley, Alex, Renae, Evan and Michael; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Betty) Lorenz of Sandusky; special cousins, Kathleen Helfrich, Robert Lorenz and Earl "Sonny" Windnagle and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 1:30 pm at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky with Pastor John Mawhirter presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
