Sally L. (Meyer) Hofer, 71, of Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born on February 11, 1943 in Sandusky, and was a graduate of Sandusky High School. Sally was an English major, earning her bachelor's degree from Michigan State University.
She was a French teacher for the Birmingham Michigan school system, and was also the longtime secretary and treasurer for the family business.
Sally was associated with Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomington Hills, MI, a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, loved skiing and animals - especially Labrador retrievers. Sally was an expert horsewomen. She rode two hounds and participated in hunter jumper classes at Bloomfield Open Hunt in MI,, and was a sweet, loving person to all her friends and family.
Sally is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack Carl Hofer; daughter, Elise Sarah (Hofer) Shaw, Chicago, IL; son, David Charles Hofer, Fort Lauderdale, FL; mother, Mary Irene (Faler) Meyer, Sandusky; grandchildren, Emma Anne Shaw, Alex Hofer, and J.P. Hofer; and her brother, Bud Meyer, Norwalk, OH.
She was preceded in death by her father, Omar E. Meyer, founder of O.E. Meyer & Son.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 19, 2014, at 3 P.M. in the chapel at Parkview Place, 3800 Boardwalk Blvd., Sandusky.
