Dorothy J. Hanville, 97, formerly of Sandusky, died Monday morning, February 28, 2011 in the Edgewood Manor Nursing Center, Port Clinton. She was born May 12, 1913 in Chicago Junction, Ohio to Robert N. & Mollie (Duncan) Crooks. She married Robert A. Hanville on January 26, 1935 in Sandusky. Dorothy graduated from Willard High School with the class of 1931 and the Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1934. She worked as a supervisor and in the OB and nursery department at the former Memorial Hospital, Sandusky and also for Dr. Augustine Mancuso. Dorothy lived in Sandusky until 2003, when she came to live with her son, Don, his wife Kim, and their daughters, Amber and Donya, who took very good care of her and were by her side until her final day. She is survived by four daughters: Shirley Fackler, Sue (Tom) Galloway, both of Sandusky, Bobbie Walters of Cuyahoga Falls, OH., and Jo (Jim) Bierkortte of Parkersburg, W.Va., and one son: Don (Kim) Hanville of Marblehead, 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert A. Hanville in 1990, her parents, brother: Donald, sister-in-law: Vera and two son-in-laws: John David Fackler and Ed Walters. Friends may call Friday from 11:30 AM until time of funeral service at 1:30 PM in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Pastor David Gowen, chaplain for Stein Hospice Service, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Willard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ida Rupp Public Library, 310 Madison Street, Port Clinton, Ohio 43452 or to the Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.
