Thomas H. "Rockhound" Brown, 85, residing in Sandusky, passed away late Saturday evening.
He was born on April 15, 1929 in Logan, Ohio to the late Joseph M. and Josephine E. (Shaw) Brown.
In 1954 he relocated his family to Sandusky for work, where he continued a nearly 70 year career in trucking. He was the owner/operator of Tom Brown Trucking Inc. retiring in 2001. Tom's passion was his truck and all aspects of the trucking business including drag racing events and truck shows, winning many awards. He loved spending time with his cherished family and numerous friends. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann (Sharb); two daughters Vicki Hillis of Huron, Ohio and Trudy Mariotti of Charleston, S.C., four grandchildren Jaycie Mariotti of Charleston, S.C.; Dan Hillis of Huron, OH.; Sean (Erin) Hillis, of Columbia S.C.; and Reilly Mariotti of Charleston, S.C., two great grandchildren Landon and Avery Hillis: one sister Karen Ann (Gary) Hilton of Thornville, OH., several nieces, nephews and other relatives including his special niece Kristine Hilton.
Including his parents, Tom was preceded in death by one brother J.R. Brown Sr., one sister Mary Jo Donahue and a nephew he considered a son, Jim (James R.) Brown.
There will be no visitation. Private family services will be held at a later date. The Groff Funeral Home and Crematory 1607 E. Perkins Ave. Sandusky, Ohio are assisting the Family with arrangements.
