Richard C. "Dick" Rarey, 91, of Sandusky, passed away early Monday morning, August 4, 2014 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on August 25, 1922 in Groveport, Ohio to the late John and Mary (Randall) Rarey.
Richard was a graduate of Sandusky High School. He worked for Lyman boats, Scott Paper, and was a security guard. He loved to collect firearms, golf, and go fishing. He also loved his cats.
Richard is survived by his daughter and son, Kathy Sue (Johnnie) Johnson and Richard J. Rarey and his family; granddaughters, Connie Lunsford and Susan (Rodney) White; great-grandchildren, Emily Johnson, Brandon White, and Brent White; and nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Clara; and a sister, Mary Siefert.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Philip Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to Serving Our Seniors (Ramp Program), 310 E. Boalt St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
