Deborah S. Gilbert, 62, of Norwalk, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014.
She was born November 13, 1953 in Norwalk, Ohio and was a lifelong area resident.
Debbie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Queen Esther Chapter #15 Order of Eastern Star, Firelands Post #2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge #711 Auxiliary. She had worked for 17 years at Norwalk ChildCare Center, and had also worked at West Side Sunoco, Norwalk, Ohio. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Gary W. Gilbert, of Norwalk, Ohio, by her children, Jennifer L. (Chris) Bly, Scott L. Gilbert, Jason M. Oney, and Bradley J. (Jamie) Gilbert, all of Norwalk, Ohio, by her mother, Jane Schaffer of Norwalk, Ohio, and 8 grandchildren, Gabby, Ethan, Carly, Aiden, Jacob, Colin, Cohen, and Grayson.
She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara (David) Doerner, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Margaret "Peggy" (Kenneth) Nickoli, of Norwalk, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her father Wilbert Schaffer, in 1977.
Friends may call on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 West League St., Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Anthony Recker will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
