Heather L. Hunley

Heather L. Hunley, 39, of Sandusky, departed this life in her home on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on March 22, 1975 in Sandusky to Elijah and Undraye (May) Hunley.

Heather was a 1993 graduate of Sandusky High School, where she sang with the Sandusky High School Gospel Choir. She attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from Terra Tech.

She was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, the Mass Choir, and directed the Male Chorus. Heather loved her church family. Singing was her passion, and she sang with the Sandusky Community Choir. She enjoyed doing crafts, always making arrangements for special occasions for anyone who asked.

Heather is survived by her parents, both of Sandusky; her son, Brian, of Sandusky; brother, Brandon (Nysheika) Hunley, and nephew, Bryson Hunley, all of Indian Head, Maryland; maternal grandparents, Charles and Ruby May, of Sandusky; aunts, Thelma (Duke) Cox, Easter (Oscar) Howard, and Edna Wilson, all of Sandusky, Linda (Joe) Sanders, of Byhalia, MS; uncles, Rufus May, of Sandusky, Scott May, of Bloomington, IN; and a host of cousins and many friends close to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Earnest & Bertha Hunley; uncles, Roosevelt Hunley, Fred Hunley, and Charles May; and an aunt, Dorothy May.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 6-9 P.M. at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 P.M. Noon at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1920 Eddy Henry Way, Sandusky, with Rev. Curtis Johnson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
