Viola M. Scherz

Viola M. Scherz, 87, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, Ohio.

She was born May 5, 1927 in Vickery, Ohio to the late Don and Jessie (Frederick) Keegan, and came to Norwalk, Ohio in 1970 from Medina, Ohio.

Viola was a 1945 graduate of Townsend High School in Vickery, Ohio. She participated in Norwalk golf and bowling leagues, and was a loyal Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers fan. Viola was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and attended all of her children's and grandchildren's sporting events.

She married Melvin Lawrence Scherz on June 14, 1947. He preceded Viola in death October 17, 2002 after 55 years of marriage.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Jeanie) Scherz of Wilmington, Ohio, Gary (Georgiana) Scherz of Norwalk, Ohio, David (Diane) Scherz of Norwalk, Ohio, and Brenda (Steve) Massie of St. Paris, Ohio, by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and by her brother, Leland Keegan of Vickery, Ohio.

In addition to her husband, Viola was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Harold (Pauline) Keegan, Edna Keegan Gooding Cloud, Russell (Edna) Keegan, Laurel Keegan, Thelma Keegan (Dalton) Shade, Hazel Keegan (Jim) Franks, and Virginia Keegan.

Friends may call on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio and on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 21 Firelands Blvd., Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Adrian Doll and Rev. Clair Brewer will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Norwalk, Ohio.
