Duane R. "Butch" Koch Sr.

Duane R. "Butch" Koch Sr., 76, residing in Sandusky, passed away Thursday evening, August 21, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness.

Duane was born on February 24, 1938 in Sandusky, OH to the late Harold Koch and Floybelle (Morgan) Koch Blatnik.

Butch was a Veteran of the US Navy who proudly served his country from 1957 to 1964. He was employed at the former New Departure Hyatt for 25 years before retiring in 1994 and then later at EHOVE Career Center for 5 years. Butch was a member of the U.A.W. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, off road four wheeling, NASCAR and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Butch is survived by his children, Jeffrey Koch, Jeri Elliott, Cheryl (James) Evans, Tammy (Robbie) Glass and Duane R. Koch Jr; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Koch and Spencer Blatnik and numerous nieces, nephews, who cherish their fond memories of staying in the country with Uncle Butch. He was loved dearly and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his siblings, Darlene Williams and Keith Koch.

Friends may call on Monday, August 25, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Marines Forever will be present to conduct military honors at the conclusion of the visitation. Burial will be held at a later date in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, OH.
