Loretta Meacham, age 77, passed away August 19, 2014 with her granddaughter, Autumn Meacham in Ashland County.
She was born April 28, 1937 in Bellevue, the daughter of Archie & Pauline (Shellhammer) McConnell.
She was a 1955 graduate of York School. Loretta served on Bellevue City Council where she served as President, as the Mayor of Bellevue; Bellevue City Treasurer and Huron Co. Bailiff in 1989.
Loretta was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Congregational Council, Prayer Guild and Sunday School Superintendent. She also was a lay preacher. Loretta was also a member of the Huron County Quilt Club. Loretta will forever be remembered for her smile and willingness to serve. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Meredeth (Danny Jackson) Ott, Bellevue; grandchildren, Matthew Meacham, Isaiah Meacham, Ethan Ott, Grace Ott and Logan Jackson; six great-grandchildren; four brothers Robert McConnell, Sandusky; William (Vernanne) McConnell, Chino Hills, CA; Thomas (Amy) McConnell and Kenneth (Lisa) McConnell, Bellevue both of Bellevue; sister Patty (Richard) Henney, Bellevue.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Philip whom she married July 17, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellevue; son Philip "Marty" Meacham; grandsons Zechariah Meacham, Jeremiah Meacham; granddaughter, Autumn Meacham; and sister-in-law, Karlene McConnell.
Calling hours will be on Monday, September 1, 2014 from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Foos & Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue, OH. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Juli Lejman-Guy will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St., Bellevue. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
