Norma Jean Rivers, 55, of Sandusky, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
She was born on June 6, 1959 in Sandusky to the late Ruby Shelby and Sylvester Rivers.
Norma attended Sandusky High School and worked as a SNA, most recently with the Ohio Veterans Home.
She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling, fishing, working in her garden, and believe it or not, food. When it came to food, Norma was willing to try just about anything once.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Ricca Rivers; grandson, Semaj Smith; granddaughter, Taje Rivers, all of Sandusky; aunt, Agnes Boggan, Montgomery, AL; sisters, Vashti Armstrong, Cleveland, OH, Agnes Poole and Patricia Benford, both of Sandusky, and Bobbie Nelson, Detroit, MI; brother, Marc Rivers, Sandusky; best friend, Penny Brown; longtime companion, Albert "Buddy" Rainey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and her always faithful dog, "ToTo".
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and a brother, Willie Beason.
Friends may call on Friday, August 29, 2014, from 6-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky and on Saturday from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in the funeral home, with the Rev. Veno Kuhl officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
